We have been hanging out in Alegria and in San salvador the past few days. There is a huge difference between those two .
Alegria in El Salvador
One a beautiful laid back country village on a mountain with grate view over the country site and the other noisy, smoggy, polluted, crowded boring capital. Just like capital cities very often are. I have to admit that I cant wait to get out of the big city and in to the country site. We are now in the biggest mall in El Salvador and the noise is killing me, but it is even worse down town where the streets filled with old school-bus type of busses drive the streets like maniac monster spewing their polluting smoke on to those that dare to be walking.
Lake Alegria in El Salvador
The sidewalks are packed with sales stalls so there is no room for you to walk but on the street and even there you have trouble because of the sales stalls flowing into them to. There is barely room for the traffic that still speeds like mad man when ever possible so you better watch out for your toes.
On top of that are all those illegal stalls selling music and dvd's, each equipped with sound system that is used to drown the competition in next stall.
Bo oh boy how I long for the quiet country site and the small village charm as we met in Alegria. Totally different experience. This is why we are heading up to the mountains in to the area of the volcanos. Hopefully go hiking and biking in the nature and maybe climb a volcano or two.
Christmas in Alegria, El Salvador
We really enjoyed the walk up to the green Lake Alegria and would like more of such experience here. We also got hte luck of getting the last of christmas there wich was nice.
We hope to be able to update with more stories next week but even here in the big city it is difficult finding hot spots to connect to.
