Hairy scary animal

O boy, o boy. It is only for true heros to travel in the jungle. There is all kinds of wildlife there. It is ok with those bigger animals because they suffer from chronological shyness and disappear if they get notion of any human close by. Our friend that lives in Belize and takes tourists into the jungle got so lucky the other day that he saw 2 jaguars. The first ones in 12 years. Just so you know what I am talking about. The smaller once are not this shy, unfortunately.

Hairy spider on a wall
Home in Iceland I found them just sweet and according to an old rime they show you where the berries are. On the other hand when you open up the doors of the cabin you just have rented in the middle of the jungle after a 9 hours kayak trip down a river that did not have enough current and the first thing you see is a 10 cm(4 inch) spider sitting on the wall by the bed, you just loose it and an unknown phobia crawls into you.
"KKKRISTJÁÁÁÁÁÁÁNNN IMMMMM GOOONNNEEEE" was the first reaction and i ran out the doors out to the veranda and slammed the door behind me.
I did not really know where to go as I was so tired that I could not make it down the stairs again.
You are the man and You take care of this problem. In cases like that I totally forget about equality of the sexes and become from the very week sex
It is a bit problem that Kristjan does not like them either and he there fore objected weekly. :"Did you see the size of it. It can probably eat me in one bit!"

The hero at work
We held a short meeting and then decided that the best option would to get one of the paddles from the kayak and cut this thing into two parts. It was long enough to stay far away while attacking this beast. I would hold the door open and be ready if this killing would not work as planed and the beast attack, Kristjan would then jump out the door and I would slam it shut and wee run to the manager and with a hurt pride and complain.
My little hart was now beating at 200bpm when Kristjan raised the kayak paddle snuck up on the beast like an indian ready to catch a boar with his spear. He hesitated a minute but then attacked but did not do better than so that three legs of the spider jumped in one way and the spider it self the other way.
I screamed and got goose bumps that lasted for an hour, but Kristjan was now crazed in killing mood and started chasing the half leg less spider all over the room while I gave moral support in the background from high up on the bed I had jumped up on. That of course was no help as this was not a mouse!
At last he managed to kill the beast and I am very proud of him. He was then sent to search the room high and low and found one under the bed and an other smaller in the toilet bowl (you can just imagining how it was sitting on that in there after).

Morning view from the jetty at Finca Tatin
I have to mention it that those spiders are in now way and I do like them in theyr own environment out in the forest or garden, any where but close to where I sleep.
Other vise Finca Tatin was a nice jungle setting by a small river running in to Rio Dulce. A place you only can get to by boat because there are no roads. There are lot of of Mayans that live there along the river and work and fish there.
Early the morning after the spider massacre we sat on the jetty beside the bird watching nerds from the states and little by little we became the same bird watching nerds to.

Tucan fugl
We got so lucky to see 5 Tucan birds (Had earlier seen a flock of them in a berry tree in Belize and there he is the national bird) that is rare to see in the jungle.
There is some thing very charming and calming about sitting in the morning light and watch the jungle come alive. Most people that come here have plans to stay just one night or two on their way up or down streem. Most end up staying more days and others far longer.
